Note: Hybrid projects (animation and live-action) are accepted but the film must contain at least 75% animation.

Rules & DEADLINES

 

GENERAL RULES

 

  • Animation Chico accepts animated short Films only. 

  • The maximum duration of each film is 15 minutes including credits.

  • We will only be accepting submissions for films completed after January 1st, 2018. 

  • Your film must contain at least 75% animation in any technique. 

  • The Exhibition copy of your film must be encoded in H.264 .mp4 format with a constant bitrate no higher than 20mbps. We accept 720p or 1080p resolution.​

  • Animation Chico has no restrictions regarding premiere status. 

  • More than one film or video may be submitted. Each film or video must be accompanied by a separate submission form and entry fee.

  • Films with dialogue or narration in languages other than English must have English subtitles. 

  • The Festival has the right to use all materials related to the submission as well as a film excerpt up to 10% of the total length of the film that will not exceed 3 minutes for promotional purposes.

  • By submitting, you represent and warrant that you have full legal right and authority to submit the film/video project for consideration by Animation Chico, and that all necessary consents, licensing, and approvals have been obtained with respect thereto. You agree to hold Animation Chico and its sponsors harmless in any and all matters pertaining to the consents, licenses, and approvals of the film/video project. You understand that your submission is in no way a guarantee of acceptance into Animation Chico. No one from Animation Chico or its sponsors has guaranteed you admission into the festival. Should your film be accepted to Animation Chico, you grant Animation Chico the right to use any footage from the preview screener, and all submitted publicity photos and any other materials pertaining to this entry for Animation Chico's promotional non-commercial purposes, without limitations.

  • EARLY BIRD DEADLINE - MAR 31st 2023 - $15

  • REGULAR DEADLINE - JUN 30th 2023 - $25

  • LATE DEADLINE - AUG 31st 2023 - $35

 

Awards & Prizes

 

All accepted films for judging will receive an ‘Official Selection’ Laurels. 

Juried awards are given for:

Best 2D Animation - $100 USD
Best Stop-motion Animation- $100 USD
Best 3D Animation - $100 USD
Best Experimental Animation - $100 USD
Best Student Animation - $100 USD

​

Prize money will be transferred via PayPal as soon as the proper information is provided by the filmmaker.
